Universitas Pertamina was established based on the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 60/KPT/I/2016, which was issued on February 1, 2016, regarding the establishment permit for Universitas Pertamina. Meanwhile, the inauguration of the university was conducted on February 11, 2016, by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), supported by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The establishment of Pertamina University is a manifestation of PT Pertamina (Persero)'s contribution to society through the provision of higher education. Universitas Pertamina was founded with the spirit of becoming a world-class institution in the fields of business and energy technology.
The management of Universitas Pertamina is carried out by the Pertamina Foundation. The Pertamina Foundation is a foundation that between 2012 and 2014 financed more than IDR 300 billion for various education and environmental-oriented activities, including the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (Sobat Bumi School), research grants and awards, scholarships, volunteer teaching staff, and environmental restoration.
In 2015, the Pertamina Foundation increased its focus on educational programs. This includes expanding the scope of its operational areas and program funding. Additionally, it developed an information technology-based program management system and pioneered the establishment of Universitas Pertamina . Universitas Pertamina currently has 6 faculties and 15 undergraduate programs, namely:
- Faculty of Exploration and Production Technology, with study programs: Geological Engineering, Geophysical Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering.
- Faculty of Industrial Technology, with study programs: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Logistics Engineering.
- Faculty of Economics and Business, with study programs: Management and Economics.
- Faculty of Infrastructure Planning, with study programs: Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
- Faculty of Science and Computer Science, with study programs: Chemistry and Computer Science.
- Faculty of Communication and Diplomacy, with study programs: International Relations and Communication.
These faculties and study programs are supported by lecturers who are graduates with Master's and Doctoral degrees from both domestic and international institutions, along with 225 supporting staff (part-time lecturers, technicians, laboratory assistants, librarians, and educational staff). This number is expected to continue to increase in the coming years.
With the established roadmap, Universitas Pertamina y aims to become a university ranked among the Top World Universities. To achieve this vision, Universitas Pertamina will meet several criteria. Firstly, it aims to produce graduates or human resources with high competitiveness capable of becoming global champions. Secondly, Universitas Pertamina will produce quality research products and innovations that benefit the advancement of the nation and the world. Lastly, Universitas Pertamina is actively involved in disseminating the results of research and innovations to the community.
Furthermore, Universitas Pertamina is committed to enlightening the nation's life. One of its efforts is to provide opportunities for quality and affordable education. Universitas Pertamina offers scholarships to individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and those with academic achievements.
