Department of Chemistry

The Chemistry Study Program of Universitas Pertamina is committed to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through education and research that focuses on sustainability solutions in the fields of energy and materials engineering. Students are prepared to be able to design and develop environmentally friendly materials and technologies that support the clean energy transition and natural resource efficiency. In the learning process, students are equipped with the skills to explore and create new materials with theoretical approaches, computational modeling, and laboratory experiments. This approach allows students to contribute directly to the SDGs, especially goals related to clean energy (SDG 7), industrial innovation (SDG 9), sustainable consumption and production (SDG 12), and action on climate change (SDG 13).

Vision

To become a globally leading study program in education and research that contributes to the application of chemical science, especially in the fields of energy and materials engineering, by 2030 at the latest.

Mission

1. Organizing quality and globally-minded education that focuses on applied chemistry, especially in the fields of energy and materials engineering.
2. Playing an active role through research in the field of applied chemistry to answer national and global challenges in the industrial world, especially in the fields of energy and materials engineering.
3. Contributing to society through the application of chemistry in the fields of energy and materials engineering.

Why Choose Chemistry at Pertamina University ?

Graduates of the Chemistry Study Program at Universitas Pertamina have the competence to design chemical solutions that support sustainable development, such as the development of alternative fuels, recycled materials, and waste processing technology. This competence is relevant to the needs of the global industry which is increasingly focused on sustainable innovation, while also answering national challenges in reducing environmental impacts and increasing energy efficiency.

In addition to education and research, the Chemistry Study Program also plays an active role in community service activities. Students and lecturers together apply chemistry to help local communities manage natural resources wisely, support environmentally friendly waste management, and provide training and education related to sustainable practices. This activity is in line with the SDGs, especially in creating sustainable communities (SDG 11) and maintaining terrestrial ecosystems (SDG 15).
With this provision, the Chemistry Study Program at Universitas Pertamina not only produces graduates who are ready to face the world of work, but also graduates who are able to create a positive impact on the environment and society, in line with the global SDG agenda for a better future.
